This is the day the Lord has made!

(Liam’s teeny tiny snowman from our recent “snow storm”)

This morning as the kids and I were running to the grocery store to pick up much-needed milk and bread, I sang that old children’s song: “This is the Day”. It felt so good to remind myself AND the kids that each day is a blessing and that no matter what we are facing or feeling, it’s an opportunity to praise God for that day. So today, we are rejoicing in this day that the Lord has made!

This is the day
This is the day
That the Lord has made
That the Lord has made
We will rejoice
We will rejoice
And be glad in it
And be glad in it
This is the day that the Lord has made
We will rejoice and be glad in it
This is the day
This is the day
That the Lord has made.

And before I forget, some recent Liam-isms. (Note: these are more for me to remember these stages than to be a braggy mom – it’s amazing how fast you forget things!). Without further ado, Liam’s latest things:

1) Random proclamations throughout the day that “Giant ‘crocodigles’ are HUGE!!!!” <— not a misspelling. That is how he says it.

2) Randomly saying, "Mom, I just love you."

3) Liam has become our little policeman. Whether it's at small group, Sunday School, or out hanging out with his friends, Liam likes to make sure kids stay safe and follow the rules. Haha, let's just say I never have to worry about Lauren wandering off when we are out – he is very vigilent to watch over her! 🙂

4) Liam has entered the scared-of-lots-of-things phase of childhood. He can often be seen hiding behind a blanket while watching any cartoon with a roaring dinosaur or lion.

And some Lauren-isms:

1) Lauren is OBSESSED with "reading". It was always hard to get Liam to hold still long enough to read more than half of a book, but she will sit for almost an hour reading her books and having me read and re-read them to her. She reminds me of myself as a little girl – total bookworm!

2) Lauren has mastered the possesive-type phrases necessary for a girl with an older sibling: "Mine!", "My turn!", and "Me!" are current favorites, haha.

3) Lauren loves animals and can make the sounds of several animals now on command. She is so gentle with dogs and knows instinctively how to be gentle with them.

4) We are starting to see hints of the "terrible 2's" with our little girl as she is starting to master the dramatic slow-motion tantrum (very slooooooowly throwing herself onto the floor with such dramatic flair that you would think we'd paid for acting school!). She is still a very kind, upbeat little gal most of the time, though.
